ABOUT THE ARTIST
Welcome to Copperstuff
My name is Miles Anstey. I am a 37-year-old self-taught Copper Artist. I started working with copper as an art medium when I entered a plumbing apprenticeship at the age of 16. I started out making gifts and presents for family, mostly photo frames and mirrors, and slowly over the years I progressed onto more challenging and intricate artworks that I have made for my own enjoyment, as well as on a commission basis. Creating copper art has been my hobby and passion for many years, and I have been working in copper since 1991. During this time, while working full-time as a plumber, I have displayed my art at craft fairs. I showcased my work in my first exhibition with another artist, Chris Wilson, in September 1999. This gave me a newfound confidence in my abilities, which led to a successful solo exhibition in July 2001. Since then I have continued to create a diverse range of copper art pieces that can be seen in my Photo Gallery. In January 2008, I retired from the plumbing industry to fulfill my dream of working fulltime creating copper sculptures. I enjoy the challenge of creating something unique, and take pleasure in watching a gargoyle or a dragonfly, or even a simple lily, come to life from a flat piece of copper – this is artistic buzz to me! Thank you for allowing me to share my Copper Artwork with you. Please visit my Gallery. I hope you enjoy your visit there. After you have viewed my website, I would appreciate your Feedback. Or if you find my copper artwork appealing and want to commission me to create something for you, please Contact Me Miles Anstey New Zealand Copper Artist |
